A Taste for the Paste
After tonight's poison control incident and his bottle before bed, I brushed Dexter's teeth with the new baby toothbrush and toothpaste I bought for him this morning. It was not too unlike brushing My Bologna's teeth - he was a little squirmy at first but once he got a taste for the paste, he didn't want to stop.

It finally happened. I had to call poison control. I went to wash my hands after changing Dexter and came back to find that he had turned onto his belly, opened the Desitin tub (it wasn't completely screwed on), and had the greasy white goo all over his hands, body, and face. Of course I was most concerned with whether whatever he had ingested was harmful but I also wanted to prevent more from getting into his mouth. So there I was, carrying him around, wiping like mad at his hands and face, getting covered in the goo myself, looking for his folder that has poison control's number in it. Turns out Desitin is not harmful and they just recommended that I wipe his mouth out (already did that) and give him something to drink (was just about to do that). The lessons? Screw the top of Desitin back on tightly and post important emergency numbers on the phones. Not that I will ever forget the number for poison control.
