Defending Against the Snow

Getting snow thrown at him was Dexter's favorite part of the afternoon snow-play.

Eventually, he was defeated by the snow.

Going Snow Crazy

Dex and Daddy built a snow hill in the backyard and Dex did some of his Tae Kwon Do moves on top.

 Muscle block!
 Knife hand!
Side kick!

Laundry Day

My Bologna couldn't resist getting on the bed after Ben stripped it for cleaning. He was never much interested in sleeping on our bed but I think once Dexter got mobile My Bologna began seeking out sleeping spots where the dude couldn't disturb him. My Bologna discovered our bed and, despite the fact that Dexy can now get to him up there, he still enjoys an afternoon nap on the "big bed". When the bed sheets are on, it's very difficult to see the ball o' puppy but his presence was glaringly obvious without them.

Thinking of Kim and Dylan

After trimming the tree, Dex drank some hot chocolate from his Santa boot and remembered our visit to the Christkindlmarket in Chicago last year with Kim and Dylan when they visited.
We miss you guys and are wishing you a very Merry Christmas!

Tree Trimming

This was the first year that Dexter was really into decorating the Christmas tree. He had participated before but this time he was really interested in each ornament asking questions about where we got it, who gave it to us, how long we've had it. Endless questions.

He was great at hanging the ornaments (even working those little crooked hooks!). We had a lovely time as a family trimming the tree this year.

Lessons and Carols

Each year at Christmas time, the church where Ben plays has a special service full of singing and stories about Jesus' birth. Like last year, Dexter and I went to the service. We had a lovely breakfast together beforehand while Daddy rehearsed with the band. Dex ate a ton of french toast!

At the service, Dexter joined the group of children who processed into the service playing a variety of bells and shakers. It was so sweet to see all those children helping to make beautiful music.

Sledding Excitement

After our first big snow of the season, Dexter couldn't wait to go sledding. Daddy took him to the hill behind the library and they had a blast.

Dex is all about doing it himself. He wiped out going down the hill...

as well as climbing back up the hill.
