Bye-Bye Baby Teeth Numbers Three and Four!

Dex had a wobbly tooth for about a month. The thing looked like it was hanging by a thread. But every time Ben tried to pull it, it wasn't coming out. One night, Dex was having a bath and I suggested that he might like to eat a popsicle in the bathtub (I have never suggested such a thing before and I don't know why I thought of it this night - it just seemed like a fun, special thing to do). Of course, Dex loved the idea. So there he is, eating his popsicle in the bathtub, chatting away with me about his day when I notice that there is a little blood in his mouth. "Hey Dex, open your mouth. I think something's going on." He opens his mouth and I see that he is missing a tooth!  But it wasn't the tooth that was loose - that one was still in there wobbling away. "You lost a tooth!" I exclaimed. Dex got a big smile, "I did?" "Yes," I replied, "And it wasn't even your wobbly tooth!" Dex and I searched the tub for the missing tooth to no avail. "You must have swallowed it," I said. "But will the Toothfairy come?" Dex asked worriedly. "I'm sure she will but we'll have to write her a note explaining what happened and why there isn't a tooth under your pillow."

The Toothfairy wrote a lovely response and left Dex three quarters and a lemon lollipop.











The very next day, that wobbly tooth finally came out and also disappeared in Dexter's digestive track. Dex had been eating an apple then came out and was playing his Leap Pad on the couch. Again, I noticed a little blood in his mouth. "Dex, open up and let me see your mouth. I think you lost another tooth." Sure enough that wobbly tooth was gone and never to be found. When I looked at the apple Dex had been eating, I saw some blood on it and figured it came out while he was eating and he swallowed it along with the apple. "We're going to have to write another letter to the Toothfairy," I said. "She's never going to believe it," Dexter said with a grin.

Sure enough, that Toothfairy took his note and left him another note with four quarters and a cherry lollipop (as he requested). I can only imagine what the Toothfairy thinks is going on in our house.
