He Did It! He Flushed It! He Plunged It!

There was lots of excitement at our house on the evening of the Fourth of July.  Dexter hadn't done  poops throughout his whole "hotel adventure" and had been grabbing his bum throughout the afternoon.  I was sure today was the day he would do a poop on the potty. Dexter was resistant to Daddy's and my excited suggestions that he put his poops in the potty and managed to get through dinner and "flag" desert without too much discomfort. However, as he was preparing for his bath, he kept complaining about his belly hurting and his bum hurting.  We let him wander around naked for a bit until he turned to me with a concerned look on his face and said, "I can't make it stay in anymore."  We seized the opportunity to put him right on the potty and, sure enough, he did his poops on the potty!  After the initial drop, Dexter repeatedly said in amazement, "I pooped on the potty." But there was more to come. A lot more. So much more that he clogged the toilet and had to help Daddy plunge it. We celebrated with a green star on his potty chart, a parade, and a special surprise that Mommy and Daddy had been saving for his first poop on the potty (a small delivery truck that Dexter had been admiring at the Walgreens).  He also got to call anyone he wanted to let them know that he did his first poops on the potty.  Grandma and Grampy? Nope. Grandma and Gunker? Nope. Dexter wanted to call Elissa, Ian, and Jason (they were very excited and it made Dexter feel very proud). Since it was the 4th of July, there were also fireworks (hope he doesn't expect those for every poop on the potty!).
