Beat It

Today at Wiggleworms, the kids got to play a big drum. Dexter loved it so much, we couldn't tear him away from it. He was surprisingly rhythmic in his playing!

Happy 4th of July!

Quick Draw McDewey

Dexter exhibited two new sleep-related skills in the last couple of days. First, he now grabs his pacifier (we keep a couple in the same spot in his crib) and puts it in his mouth as soon as he is put down. He beats Ben and me to the punch every time! Second, he sleeps on his tummy. We found him asleep on his tummy at the end of yesterday's nap - he must have flipped over and decided to stay that way. He never made a peep and when we got him up he had "sleep marks" all over one side of his face. Last night, when I went in to check on him before I went to bed, he was sleeping on his tummy again! We decided to open his window to get some fresh air in his room and he woke up and tried to flip over onto his back again but was wedged up against the side of the crib. We helped him flip back onto his back and, you guessed it, he grabbed that paci and stuck it in his mouth and was off to sleep again immediately.

Grocery Shopping Adventures

Ben and I took Dexter on a grocery shopping trip today - his first ride in the grocery cart. He sat up in the cart enjoying the scenery and gnawing on my wallet and playing with my keys, happy as could be for a good half hour until we were just about finished at the check out line when he dropped the keys and started screaming and crying at the top of his lungs, head turning bright red. Ben picked him up right away to comfort him and I heard a chorus of ,"Awwww..." from the little old ladies in the line behind us. It was truly adorable.

Friends and Fuzzies

Dexter visited me at work today and enjoyed the company of so many friends. He even got to meet Gus, Molly's bunny!

Wiggleworms

Dexter had his first Wiggleworms class at Old Town School of Folk Music today. It is a music and movement class for 6 - 12 month olds. He really enjoyed it and often "sang along" to the delight of the teacher and the rest of the participants. Mommy and Daddy had fun too.
